A Brand New Historical Photograph Exhibition Is In Town!

Our friends in the Killaloe Photography Group have mounted a new exhibition based on The Lawrence Photograph Collection of a century ago! The exhibition is titled Then and Now: the Lawrence Project.

The Killaloe Photography Group is a group of twenty camera enthusiasts who stay in touch with each other on a dedicated Facebook page. There, the diverse group shares their work to positive and constructive reactions.

This project came about by suggestion from Jim Finn who has in the past provided many popular photography courses at the Killaloe-Ballina Family Resource Centre. Members of the group then took this fantastic idea and came up with this wonderful exhibition project. With the help of a Creative Ireland grant, the necessary materials were acquired and the team stormed ahead.

Visiting the exhibition in its host locations of The Killaloe Hotel, the Ring of Lough Derg Tourist Office, and St Flannan’s Cathedral, you can expect to experience the streets of the Killaloe of a century ago. Many of the images taken by Robert French are cleverly juxtaposed within the same frame as the work of the modern photographers, revealing the exact location of old street features, shop fronts, and even a few surprise inhabitants.

This very special exhibition will run for one month only so get on down to any of the three local locations, each of which are showing a different selection of works, before the 23rd of September. Entrance is entirely FREE and the photographs are suitable for all ages.
